We hope you can join us via Zoom on May 18 for what we expect will be a lively conversation about commissions!
Demystifying Commissions
The Austin Mosaic Guild often receives requests for commissions from people who want mosaic art for their homes and businesses. Thinking about creating mosaic art for others can seem intimidating and overwhelming. If you’ve never accepted a commission for a custom work of art, join us for our May meeting to discuss:
-
What kinds of commissions are out there, and how do you apply?
-
How do you approach a request from your best friend/auntie/neighbor who wants you to “make something for them”?
-
What options are best for design presentations?
-
How much do you charge? HOW do you figure that out?
-
What is involved in negotiating the details?
-
What happens after you say YES??
Dianne Sonnenberg will offer a slideshow presentation to help clarify the commission process. Dianne has worked with a wide range of clients over her career, expanding her scope of experience. You will gain valuable information that you can use in your own art practice. We will then open up a conversation to hear the experiences of others in the guild who have worked with clients, and have plenty of time for Q&A.
