Join Italian mosaic installer Romeo De Candido and AMG member mosaicist Julie Richey for a live demonstration of the reverse-on-paper installation method. This technique allows for rapid installation of large architectural works, whether they are interior or exterior, walls or floors. Julie and Romeo have worked together on many large projects including the Grand Galvez Hotel lobby floor, the Mesquite, TX Fire Station, the Garden of Peace in Baton Rouge, LA and PlayGrand Park in Grand Prairie, TX.
Julie is a Dallas-based mosaicist specializing in site-specific installations for commercial, public and sacred spaces. Her work has earned awards such as the Angelo Orsoni International Grand Prize for Mosaic (2009) and Best 3-D and Best 2-D Mosaic at SAMA’s Mosaic Arts International exhibitions. Romeo is trained at the Spilimbergo School of Mosaic in Italy and has worked for Miami-based Fantini, and MVM Cuernavaca (Perdomo) and Miotto Mosaics/Travisanutto on NYC Subway installations, among many others. He was the lead mosaic installer for a year-long project at the Georgia residence of actor-producer Tyler Perry, which included swimming pools, ceilings, baths and terrazzo floors.
