Make your own design of tile using the sgraffito method guided by featured artist Ryah Christensen. Or, you can create tiles that Ryah will use in a current mosaic work in progress that depicts an aspen forest. People often carve into aspens because their bark blackens and scars beautifully, so this piece aims to capture this effect with sgraffito tiles.
Sgraffito is an ancient tile decorating method where textural images are created by carving into layers of clay slip and glaze. Come play with clay with Ryah!
