Dear Austin Mosaic Guild Friends,
Thank you all again for the incredible work you have contributed to the Kerr County Love Project. The birds created during our glass session on Saturday, June 6, are beautiful examples of the generosity, creativity, and heart that make this community so special.
Our next step is the grout party on Friday, July 17, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at Joy Street Studio:
11402 Joy Street
Austin, TX 78748
We will be using Ardex epoxy grout, and we are fortunate to have Erin Albrecht, Mosaic Fabrication and Installation Specialist with J&R Tile, leading us in this demonstration.
Erin is a highly respected professional in the tile and mosaic industry who is passionate about craftsmanship, education, and helping artists learn best practices for fabrication and installation. As a woman working in the tile industry, she is a strong advocate for sharing knowledge and supporting other makers.

We are using Ardex TLT 700 Multipurpose Construction Adhesive and Sealant for the birds. Product information and specifications can be found here:

A few bird reminders:
• Please only use stained glass. (no ceramic pieces, plastic anything, etc.)
• Please keep all glass within the bird substrate.
• Please leave a small space around each piece of glass so the grout has room to do its job.
• If a wing, tail, beak, leg, or other small piece breaks, no problem. The epoxy grout will help secure it back into place.
• Please let us know if you have any technical questions about construction or the adhesive.
• If you choose not to use the adhesive we provided, you are welcome to use your preferred thinset or another high-quality construction adhesive (for use outdoors in extreme weather conditions).
• Please do not use Weldbond for these birds.
If you are unable to attend the grout party on July 17, please make arrangements to have your bird delivered by Wednesday, July 15. If your timeline changes, please let me know so we can plan accordingly.
If you have any unused project glass remaining from the workshop, we would appreciate having it returned so it can be used for future project needs.
Thank you again for sharing your talents with Kerr County. It is an honor to create alongside all of you.
With gratitude,
Wanda Montemayor
