JOIN US for a fascinating evening of conversation with Arianna Gallo, Anita Pilotti, and Anabella Wewer, as we welcome them to The Mosaic Workshop in Austin, Texas!

For years, certain commonly used mosaic terms were confusing to mosaicist Anabella Wewer, but it wasn’t until she started teaching when she started seriously questioning their use, concerned with passing on information that may not be correct. A lot of research later, and with her perspective as a sometimes interpreter for Italian mosaic masters, she concluded it wasn’t her language skills that were the problem, but more likely a long-ago translation mistake that has been passed on in books, classes, and in every-day studio conversations. A few years into this questioning, while visiting Arianna Gallo of Koko Mosaico, in Ravenna, Italy, with whom Anabella had studied extensively many years ago, Anabella brought up her two main concerns. After a year of further research, they are bringing this conversation to the Austin Mosaic Guild. Anabella and Arianna will be joined by Anita Pilotti, also of Koko Mosaico, in an informal discussion to share their findings and perspectives, and perhaps to suggest more accurate terminology we can all use.

Following their discussion, they will present a brief overview of their recent works and the rich mosaic tradition that Arianna and Anita have brought to the United States for the first time this year.

This conversation will be recorded for future use in other presentations. The audience will not be filmed, but voices may be recorded in the Q&A portion of the presentation, which may or not  edited out in future uses.
